Today I am going to take about a pretty cool saving/investing phone app called acorns.
This app makes it very, very easy to start investing with only a few dollars a month. There are two ways that you can deposit money in to your acorns investment account. The first is where I think this app really nailed it: you link you bank accounts and credit cards to the app. Then, every time you make a transaction, acorns will round the amount up to the next dollar and then deposit the difference into your acorns account. So with very little effort you can start depositing money into an investment account. And I doubt you would even miss those few dollars a month.
You can also set a recurring deposit of a minimum of $5 either, daily, weekly, or monthly to help build up you balances even further.
Furthermore, you can set how aggressively you would like to invest on a scale from 1-5. There are many other tools that you can find within the app but I will let you discover those on your own.
The one downside to this app is that it charges you $1 per month as a management fee on balances up to $5000. After that is it a flat 0.25% yearly management fee. The point is, though, on very small balances, $1/month is a pretty high fee. But considering how easy this app is, I think it might be worth it.
And at the end of the day, if you are unhappy with the app or simply need the money in the account, you can easily withdraw it.
And, to get you started, if you sign up with my referral link below, we will both get $5 deposited into our acorns account.
